Preserving the Past for Today with Matthew Schiff

Matthew directs the San Diego’s History Center marketing department and project manages all of the major installations at the museum. He is a published author who also writes all public information and news releases for the History Center. Matthew first got involved with the San Diego National History Museum as a volunteer during their Dead Sea Scrolls exhibition back in 2007. He gave tours, public lectures and private talks to donors. Since then he fell in love with the art of history and got heavily involved as their Marketing Director.

The San Diego History Center is one of the oldest and largest historical organizations on the west coast, established in 1928. They showcase San Diego’s diverse communities through their public programs, exhibitions and events that highlight what makes San Diego unique historically. Their 50,000 square foot History Center and Research Library in Casa de Balboa continues to collect, preserve and display numerous collections of regional history.

Matthew and The San Diego History Center work diligently and creatively to help the History Center accomplish its mission of preserving the past for today and the future!

Matthew is currently attending the University of California San Diego, studying Digital Communication and Multimedia. He is learning how to create digitally published literature, which will aid in retention and desirability of information to engage history-related subjects for the museum. He obtained his MBA from the University of Phoenix- San Diego Campus from 2005- 2007 and earned a Master of Arts fro the University of San Diego from 2009-2011.
