The guest was Antoinette Kuritz, founder of the La Jolla Writers Conference. With the permission author Catherine Ryan Hyde, the Conference adopted “Pay It Forward” as its motto. Catherine Ryan Hyde was the keynote speaker in 2001 in the inaugural year of this conference. To this day, none of the staff or keynote speakers receive payment for their services to the conference which helps to make it affordable for all writers.

Mrs. Kuritz and her business partner, Jarred Kuritz work to keep the class sizes small and bring in talented instructors that will benefit aspiring authors as well as seasoned, professional writers. In the 13th year of the conference, both organizers still derive great pleasure out of knowing that they are providing all attendees with the best opportunity to learn more about the art, craft, and business of writing in the most intimate setting possible.
