He has been cancer-free for 15 years, and they have written a step-by-step guide about how to be an effective patient advocate called When a Loved One Falls Ill. The book is written around 50 inspirational tips that give you a road map to beat serious illnesses.

Before his diagnosis, Brian was a San Diego lawyer who earned his undergraduate degree from the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. Afterwards, he served two tours in Vietnam before retiring from the Navy and earning his JD from Hastings University. For nearly thirty years he ran a solo practice as a trial lawyer for which he received numerous awards from local and national law associations.
