Richard and Joe’s guest was Steven Snyder, Ph.D., CEO of the Rueben H. Fleet Science Center. Dr. Synder joins the Science Center family from Philadelphia, where he was the Vice President of Exhibit and Program Development at the Franklin Institute. Prior to that, he was Director of Science and Attraction Development at Science City in The Kansas City Museum. Dr. Synder has extensive experience and success in developing educational science programs and developing new experiences for the public. By introducing new interactive exhibits, Dr. Snyder has overseen a dramatic increase in the attendance at the Fleet. Dr. Synder talked about the exciting educational programs at the Fleet Museum like their Young Scientist program and their Tinkers Club just to name a few. There are so many, you need to listen to the show to get all the information about one of San Diego’s premier educational attractions.

Dr. Snyder was a 2010 Noyce Leadership Fellow and, as the Director of the Science Theater Outreach project, led the group to receive the 1993 AAAS Award for Public Understanding of Science and Technology. As a principle investigator, Dr. Snyder has worked on, and published papers on several projects that developed augmented reality or interactive exhibits.
Dr. Snyder graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and took his Ph.D. in Physics in 1996 at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan.
