• Dave Good, Award-Winning Journalist, Educator, and Author

    August 17, 2017

Dave Good PhotosThis week Richard and Joe welcome Dave Good, award-winning journalist, educator, and author. Dave is a freelance writer, photojournalist, and restless San Diegan. For over 20 years, he has authored Of Note!, the longest-running pop music column in the nation’s largest-circulated weekly, the San Diego Reader. His writing has appeared in Salon.com, Audubon Magazine, Los Angeles Weekly, Rangefinder, Cat Fancy, the Reader, Orange County Weekly, Sport Fishing, Goldmine, and more. Recognized by the California State Senate for his journalist’s role in contributing to the success of East San Diego County’s high school music education programs, in the past, he’s been called the “best investigative reporter in town” by San Diego Magazine for his cutting edge series on violence in the community.

Dave is also an accomplished music instructor and musician appearing regularly at local music venues with his band, The Goods featuring electric Texas blues.

Jukebox Confessions book coverDave is originally from Ft. Worth, TX and now lives in La Mesa, CA. His life-long infatuation with music began in an unlikely place: Crawford High School, in East San Diego. There, he played sax with future jazz luminaries such as Carl Evans, Nathan East, and Hollis Gentry. After journalism school at SDSU, he was a presence on major radio stations such as KCBQ AM and KGB FM and KGTV Channel 10 television. In the course of a media career that now approaches three decades, if placed end to end the number of words he has published thus far would stretch around the globe at least once. He is currently at work on a book about rock and roll’s farm team and the unsung music heroes of San Diego music past. His book, Jukebox Confessions, is available through Amazon.
