Listen to Podcast of the Show

berry-good-dinnerSaturday the show was broadcast live from the 4th annual Berry Good Night. This event brought together the top minds in local, sustainable food, creating a unique environment for networking, storytelling and celebration. Hosts, William & Michelle Ciccarelli Lerach, welcomed their guests and several of San Diego’s most prominent chefs to a sit down, multi-course meal in their backyard.

The Lineup:
Michelle Lerach discusses the importance of sustainability. Michelle is the proprietor of ‘Cups,’ a popular organic bakery and teaching kitchen in La Jolla.

Tommy Gomes and Jeff Rossman discusses sustainable seafood and the importance of serving it at restaurants. Tommy Gomes is head fishmonger and “it” guy at Catalina Offshore Products, and Jeff is the chef and owner of Terra American Bistro and Bunz.

Jack Ford of Taj Farms and Andrew Spurgin, a local chef, discuss why San Diego is a hotbed for sustainability. There are more small farms in San Diego than in ANY OTHER CITY in the U.S.

Lucila de Alejandro and Bill Brammer discuss the importance of community and why it’s important to know your grower. Lucila is the owner and head weed puller of Suzie’s Organic Farm. Bill is the owner and manager of Be Wise Ranch, San Diego’s longest running organic farm.

The full list of chefs and sponsors can be found on the Berry Good Night site. All the food used for the event comes from local farmers, ranchers, winemakers, artisans and other purveyors within a 100-mile radius of San Diego. While the food promised to be mouthwatering, the drinks were equally tantalizing.
